PRODUCT DETAILS:
The red mulberry (Morus rubra) is a deciduous tree native to eastern North America, recognized for its distinctive foliage and sweet, red fruits. These trees can reach heights of 30-50 feet and feature serrated leaves that are initially reddish when they emerge in spring, gradually turning green. In the late spring to early summer, red mulberries produce inconspicuous, greenish flowers that eventually give way to the tree's namesake red fruit.

USES AND BENEFITS

The sweet, red fruits are not only a treat for human consumption but also attract and nourish local wildlife, including birds and small mammals, making it ecologically significant.

The timber of the red mulberry tree is durable and has been used in the past for making furniture, fence posts, and tool handles. Additionally, the leaves of the tree serve as food for silkworms, making them integral to the silk production industry. This multipurpose plant has historical, cultural, and economic value beyond its fruit-bearing and ecological roles.
